Reverse dieting is a strategic method of gradually increasing your calorie intake after a period of restricted dieting and calorie deficit. It aims to boost and repair a damaged metabolism and improve body recomposition. (Increasing lean muscle and decreasing body fat.) The gradual increase allows your body and metabolism to adjust instead of shocking it with a sudden surplus. With a customized plan, reverse dieting helps "reset" hormone function, regain lost muscle, improve energy levels, & increase one’s caloric maintenance
You've plateaued in a calorie deficit or stayed in a calorie deficit for too long. Your metabolism has slowed & adapted If you aren’t seeing changes in body recomposition and inches aren't budging. You are most likely experiencing metabolic adaptation to the lower calories. Other symptoms: higher than expected hunger levels, food cravings, and fatigue. Persistent exhaustion, weakness in workouts, loss of period, irregular hormone regulation, increase in body fat percentage, & constant thoughts of food and uncontrolled cravings are all signs you need to reverse diet.
